Around five and a half kilometers of new cantonal road with special significance for the canton of Zug: as an indispensable part of cantonal traffic planning, the new cantonal road will relieve the centers of Cham and Hünenberg of through traffic in the future, enhance living and economic areas and improve mobility for all road users. The construction includes a 550 meter long tunnel, several major bridges, roundabouts and junctions with traffic lights as well as over 40,000 square meters of road surface. In addition, animal passages and noise barriers will be built as accompanying measures, and connectivity measures and reforestation will be implemented. Construction started in 2022 and work is currently in full swing towards the scheduled opening date in late summer 2027.
